                                    Resum

   The thermal Sunyaev-Zeldovich effect is the spectral distortion of the
  Cosmic Background Radiation produced by the inverse Compton scattering on
   hot electrons in clusters of galaxies. After a short description of the
     effect and its utility as cosmological probe, we review the recent
theoretical calculations, and in particular our method for arbitrary optical
 depth and electron temperature, by solving numerically the exact Boltzmann
               equation for the photon distribution function.
