                                    Resum

   After about 2 ${\rm fb}^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity the CDF silicon
 vertex detector (SVX IIa) will need to be replaced as a result of radiation
   damage. We here review our plans for the CDF Run 2b silicon system, and
  expectations of its performance. With an accumulation of as little as 0.5
${\rm fb}^{-1}$ of data we expect to understand much better the longevity of
   the Run 2a components as well as the physics capabilities of the Run 2a
       detector performance, and therefore greatly refine our plans.
