Due to its proximity, Cen~A is a key target for studying extragalactic jets at the highest possible spatial resolution. Multi-epoch Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) observations of Cen A conducted in the framework of the TANAMI program (Tracking Active Galactic Nuclei with Austral Milliarcsecond Interferometry) offer an exceptional opportunity to study this AGN on a linear scale as small as 15 milliparsec. TANAMI is a monitoring program observing a sample of jets south of -30deg declination with the Australian Long Baseline Array (LBA) and associated telescopes in South Africa, Chile and Antarctica approximately every three months at 8GHz and 22GHz. With the first epoch TANAMI dual-frequency images of Cen A at an angular resolution of about (0.7x0.4)mas, we can construct the best resolved spectral index map of its sub-parsec scale jet-counterjet system. We can identify multiple possible sites as the origin of gamma-ray emission detected by Fermi/LAT. In addition, the multi-epoch high resolution TANAMI images allow us to perform a very detailed jet kinematic analysis, tracking individual components of sub-parsec scale size and revealing a complex jet flow.
