                                    Resum

 The Monte Carlo Array Processor(MAP) at Liverpool University has been fully
operational for 5 months. The system consists of 300 PC's connected via fast
 ethernet. Details of the performance of MAP will be presented together with
 issues arising from the first 6 months of operation. The integration of MAP
 into the proposed new metacomputer architecture (The GRID) will discussed.
 GRID will provide the new paradigm for computing in the coming decades and
   represents a step forwards comparable to the internet, with comparable
 consequences for all scientific (and commercial) activities. Specific plans
    for the scaling of MAP to the coming extreme requirements of the next
   generation of high energy physics experiments will also be presented.
