Abstract

After a brief introduction to factorization in exclusive B meson decays 
and its formulation in soft-collinear effective theory, I discuss the 
derivation of light-cone sum rules from correlation function within the 
effective theory. As an example, we study the B -> pi transition form 
factor, which is one of the hadronic input functions for the determination 
of |V_ub| from semi-leptonic or the CKM angle alpha from non-leptonic B 
decays.
