The QCD potential

Abstract

QCD effective field theories provide a consistent definition of the 
potential describing the interaction of a heavy quark and antiquark. In 
the weak-coupling regime, I will outline the calculation of its 
logarithmic part up to N4LO accuracy and discuss several applications to 
ground state quarkonium observables. In the strong-coupling regime, I will 
discuss recent lattice data that show the long-range behaviour of the 
potentials with unprecedented precision.
